The Project!

So, my mom gave us a table, and it was very nice of her. However, it didn't really match anything in my house (black & brown), So I undertook the project of refinishing the table. This was my FIRST project with staining and wood work. Of course it's not perfect, but at least it matches now! Jeremy felt it necessary to document the process, so I decided to share. Step One: SANDING, Lots and LOTS of SANDING! (then some MORE sanding)

Applying the first coat of stain (not fun, and VERY hard to make even!)

Bad picture, but this is after the first coat of stain is done on the top of the table.

Another picture of me applying stain

Without a kitchen table, Braden had to have his meals on the kitchen floor and discovered that he could sit ANYWHERE! So he took his seat with him!

FINALLY DONE! But with 3 coats of stain and paint we had to leave it on the patio for a few days to make sure it was dry.

Finished and back in the house! It's so nice to have a table again! All in all the project was pretty fun, but hard, and I'm proud of my table (imperfect as it is). And luckily you can't see all the imperfections unless your close! He he!

Your table looks awesome. I really like it. I have done one project sanding. I feel your pain. Sanding is not fun. But totaly payed off in the end. It looks really good.

Great job! It looks really good, sounds like a lot of work though. Isn't it nice to not buy something new, but make something old work?

Ok, that table looks amazing! It makes me want to take on a new project. Knowing me, I won't do it but it's making me want to at least! And you are right, Braden totally looks like a Star Wars character in that picture...so cute.

That looks so fabulous. Way to go. Inspiring! My table needs refinished but I just don't see me having the gumption to get it done. Plus, nothing in our house really matches so it doesn't matter :)
